Stowe's Spotlight

Building Character Through Every Season

Last month, our school focused on the word perseverance — and we certainly had the chance to practice it! Snow days and schedule changes can make it tough to get back into routines, but our students have been working hard to stay focused, keep trying, and rebuild their learning momentum. Perseverance means not giving up, even when things feel challenging.

In the coming month, we will focus on honesty. Honesty helps students take responsibility for their actions, tell the truth, admit mistakes, and ask for help when they need it. Perseverance helps us keep going when things are hard, and honesty helps us grow from those challenges. Together, these character traits help our students become confident learners and caring members of our school community. Thank you for supporting these important skills at home!

Stricker's Side Notes

February is a great time to pause and reset. We know life can feel busy, messy, and sometimes downright chaotic—especially this time of year. Between work, activities, and everything else on your plates, just getting everyone where they need to be can feel like a win.

That said, regular school attendance truly matters. Each day your child is here, they’re building routines, relationships, and confidence that support their learning and growth. Even on hard mornings, showing up makes a difference.

We also want to encourage families to protect time together—whether that’s sharing a meal, reading before bed, or simply checking in with one another. Those small moments of connection matter more than we sometimes realize.

Please remember that you’re not doing this alone. Our school team is here to support your child and your family in any way we can. If challenges come up—academic, social, emotional, or attendance-related—reach out. We’re always happy to partner with you.

Thank you for all you do to support your children and our school community.

A Word With Mrs. Wilmes

Coming Soon! Our 4th annual Book Swap at Shedeck will be held on March 9 and 12 during Parent/Teacher Conferences and we are now collecting books. We are looking for new or gently used books that your kids have read and no longer need, and are appropriate for our PreK-3rd graders. This is a great time to go through those bookshelves at home and recycle unwanted books.

Donated books can be sent to school with students, dropped off in the library or placed in the donation boxes in the foyer.

Thanks in advance for your help!
