As the final chapters of this school year begin to unfold, it is tempting to start looking toward the finish line. However, this is the time when "finishing strong" matters most. Our goal is to maintain our momentum, keeping our curiosity high and our academic habits sharp right up until the final bell. We are encouraging every student to treat these remaining weeks not as a countdown, but as a "victory lap" where they can showcase everything they’ve mastered since August.
To help us navigate this busy season, our character trait of the month is Creativity. We often think of creativity as something reserved for the art room, but we are challenging our students to apply it everywhere. Whether it’s finding a unique way to solve a complex math problem, collaborating on a group project, or using creative thinking to resolve a conflict on the playground, we want to see our students thinking outside the box. A little bit of imaginative energy is exactly what we need to keep our classrooms vibrant and engaging.
Of course, finishing strong doesn't mean it’s all work and no play! We have an incredible lineup of events to celebrate our students' hard work, including Super Kids Day, upcoming field trips, and several special assemblies. These traditions are the highlights of the year, and they serve as a wonderful reminder of the tight-knit community we’ve built together. Please keep a close eye on your calendars—it’s going to be a fast-paced, joyful, and highly creative sprint to the end of the year!

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, it’s hard to believe we only have three weeks left. These last weeks are some of the most meaningful—filled with important learning, end-of-year celebrations, and opportunities to finish strong. We’re looking forward to making the most of every moment with our students as we close out the year together.
On a personal note, this time of year feels especially meaningful for me. I have truly loved my first year serving as your assistant principal. It has been such a joy getting to know our students, families, and staff, and I am so grateful for the support, kindness, and sense of community that makes Shedeck so special. While I am sad to be leaving for a new school, I am also excited for the opportunities ahead and will always carry this year and this school community with me.
Thank you for partnering with us, supporting your students, and helping make this year one to remember. Let’s finish strong together!

We want to sincerely thank all of our parents for your support of our students, staff, and school community this year! We truly could not make it through the school year if not for each of you showing up for restaurant nights, volunteering at special events, and supporting our fundraisers. Please know you are truly appreciated, and we feel fortunate to have worked alongside such a wonderful community! |

What a year it has been in the library! Thank you parents for reading with your children, turning in monthly reading challenges, and helping them take care of their library books. They have been very responsible this year! Now it’s time to start returning all of our library books so they can spend the summer safely tucked away on the shelves.
The last day for students to check out books will be Friday, May 8. After that, all books will be due by Friday, May 15. Students that bring back their plastic library book bag and have all of their books turned in will get prizes.
Books that have been lost can always be paid for so that student accounts can be cleared and they can earn their prize.
If you have any questions, please email me at jennie.wilmes@yukonps.com or message me on Seesaw.
Thanks and have a great summer!
